2019 Cheer & Pom Auditions

April 8th – 12th 2019

Applies to current PHS Freshman, Sophomores & Juniors

Important Dates:

Please read the information contained on this page to prepare for your audition!

Required Documents – Due Thursday, April 4th!

  1. A NEW 2019-20 physical packet dated after March 1, 2019, will be required for all candidates auditioning (7 pages to complete)
  2. Candidates will turn in an Application, Candidate Agreement and Intent form
    • 2019 Application, Candidate Agreement and Intent Form (coming soon)

  3. Tryout Packet handed out at lunch meeting on March 4th
  4. Candidates will ask all of their teachers to complete a recommendation form (6 total)
  5. Candidates transcripts will be requested by the coach from the registrar
  6. Parents will be required to attend an informational meeting that will be held 2 weeks prior to tryouts & sign audition agreement to be handed out at the meeting only

General Audition Information

Important points to be judged 

Technique of skills execution, coordination, rhythm, personality, appearance, poise, showmanship, and knowledge and ability to learn quickly. Considered into the score will be teacher recommendations, school attendance, and grades. Please view the break down of scoring for pom and cheer by selecting the actual score sheet below.

It is highly recommended that you print the score sheet & take it to your dance studio or cheer gym for help on mastering the included elements. Start preparing as soon as possible.

Auditions are a 5 days process. 3 days of learning material, 1 day is a practice or “mock audition” without judges. The final day is the audition evaluation and squad announcement.

**Please note that physical endurance is evaluated at the beginning of our tryout week by running a timed mile**
